Message from the Directors

Our mission at the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) has always been to enhance the lives of Canadian military members, Veterans, and families through the power of research and through the strength of our collaborative networks.

At CIMVHR, we continually ask ourselves: How are we transforming the lives of the people we serve?

Research

At CIMVHR, we have developed partnerships and processes that ensure we have the best possible understanding of the current Canadian research landscape pertaining to military, Veteran and family health research. To further our goal of advancing research, we are dedicated to providing access to valuable publications, resources and conferences.

Relationships

CIMVHR is committed to fostering collaborative relationships with like-minded institutes across the country and around the world to advance military, Veteran and family health research. These engaged networks bring unique perspectives and knowledge to the growing research community.

Impact

At the start of the 2020-2021 fiscal year, Canada's COVID-19 pandemic began to unfold. CIMVHR quickly adapted in the face of this extraordinary crisis. CIMVHR's commitment to innovation resulted in a remarkable pivot to online platforms for stakeholder engagement and outreach. This past year has been one of innovation, growth and opportunity to improve the research and outreach to support the health and well-being of military, Veterans, and their families.

Supporting Emerging Researchers

CIMVHR is committed to supporting emerging researchers with ongoing engagement at the university level and with the Student and Postdoctoral Engagement Committee (SPEC), which aims to support the professional development of graduate and postdoctoral students. In addition, the ongoing support of student scholarships and award helps to provide ongoing support to emerging researchers.
